face care

Excess oil secretion is usually related to an improper balance of fatty acids in our body. Grape seed oil is a natural light base oil that actually acts as an astrigent. Very good for an oily face.

Other recommendations:

1-Avoid using cleansers and soaps that dry out the skin–this will make your sebaceous glands secrete more oil! Instead, wash your face with plain water or a very mild soap (the kind for sensitive skin).
2-Also, after removing makeup or cleaning your face, try using a natural astringent like witch hazel, rose petal water, or cold tea. This will close pores and help reduce oil production.
3- Alcohol based astringents can be too harsh.
4-Diet can also affect your skin, so avoid sugars, refined and processed foods (white bread, pasta, baked goods, etc.), and foods high in fat (especially saturated and trans-fats). Be sure to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated!

If you continue to have excess oil secretion after trying some of these recommendations, you should see a professional. There may be other factors contributing that can be treated by a dermatologist or naturopathic physician. I hope this information is helpful!

Causes of oily skin:
There are various causes of oily skin, thus requiring different homemade face packs for oily skin: heredity, diet and hormonal imbalances being the main ones. However, pregnancy, birth control pills, the cosmetics you apply as well as hot weather and humidity, can be causes.
